On 5th June, we had the pleasure of visiting Denmead Junior School to talk to Years 4, 5 and 6 about renewable energy.

Our commitment to engaging with communities impacted by renewable development is at the heart of what we do. These students are growing up in a changing world, and we’re proud to show them that the changes happening on their doorstep are helping to ensure a liveable climate for years to come.

Just down the road from their classrooms, construction will soon begin on Denmead Solar Farm, a project that will power approximately 12,300 homes. We spoke to the students about why renewable energy matters, how it works, and what that means for their future.

The students were full of enthusiasm and curiosity, asking lots of questions about renewable energy and Net Zero. Many were particularly excited about the idea of becoming wind turbine technicians – especially when they found out it involves climbing right to the top!

It was incredibly rewarding to see how positively they responded to the idea of locally developed renewable energy. They were proud to learn that their community is contributing to a more sustainable future, and understood the importance of taking action to address climate change.

We left feeling inspired by the next generation and their optimism for building a more sustainable future. As Denmead Solar Farm progresses, we hope to continue connecting local people with the benefits of the project.
