Project Overview

As the development capacity will be more than 10MW, it is defined as a Development of National Significance (DNS). This means that the planning application will be submitted to the Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW) and considered by an Inspector with the final decision made by Welsh Ministers.

Alaw Mon would provide renewable electricity for distribution to the National Grid. This project would generate a significant amount of energy each year of the proposed 40 years of operational life, while also providing a substantial carbon dioxide savings when compared to generation of electricity by non-renewable sources. The proposals include battery storage which will allow energy to be stored on site at times when grid-demand is lower and exported at times of higher demand to ensure no energy is ‘lost’ and help balance the National Grid.

Our Alaw Mon project has a separate website, www.alaw-mon-solar-farm.co.uk , which hosts all documents forming a draft of the Development of National Significance application for the statutory publicity and consultation Pre-Application Consultation which will be from 1st November 2023 to 13th December 2023.
